Bab Sharki
Named for the eastern gate of Damascus, Bab Sharki brings together mother-of-pearl decoration and copper lamps in an individual double room.
A HOME IN OLD DAMASCUS
Eight rooms in a restored 17th-century home, beside the Roman arch on Straight Street.
THE HOUSE
Beit Ak Bik began as a Damascene house in the 17th century. Restored as an eight-room hotel, it is arranged around a courtyard with a marble fountain, striped stone walls and carved wooden details.
The rooms take their names from Damascus and its gates. Mother-of-pearl inlay, copper lamps and wooden furnishings reflect the crafts found throughout the old city. From the courtyard, the lanes around Straight Street are just beyond the door.
